Study Aims

Specific Aim 1:

To describe the level of infection control staffing and intensity of infection control interventions currently in place in ICUs across the nation.

Specific Aim 2:

To determine associations between current infection control staffing and intensity of infection control interventions and probability of HAI and short term survival in elderly ICU patients.

Specific Aim 3:

To estimate the long term outcomes attributable to HAI in elderly patients.

Specific Aim 4:

To determine the cost-effectiveness of effective infection control staffing and infection control interventions in ICU.
