Student Health Service’s mental health clinician: Free for up to 10 visits
Aetna mental health clinician:
- $20/visit co-pay; 60 visits per year
- There is no further coverage after 60 visits per year.
Non-Aetna mental health clinician:
If you choose a clinician not in the Aetna network, you will be responsible for a $500 deductible for non-biologically based conditions.* After the deductible, Aetna will reimburse you 70% of usual, customary and reasonable charges (UCR), usually less than what New York City therapists charge. You are entitled to 60 visits.
*Biologically based conditions, generally the more serious, include such illnesses as schizophrenia, major depression, and Bipolar I. There is no deductible for out-of-network clinicians for these diagnoses, but the 70% coverage of UCR does apply.
