We provide a range of healthcare services and programs for preteens and adolescents, ages 11 to 20. Our adolescent medicine specialists provide care that focuses on both the medical and emotional health needs of these teens and young adults.
Our large outpatient community adolescent practices, located at one hospital Ambulatory Care Network site and at a number of school-based clinics, provide primary care and family planning services, including pregnancy testing, contraception services, and sexually transmitted disease screening and treatment. Physical examinations focus on concerns prevalent among teenagers:
Our physicians conduct gynecological examinations, showing particular sensitivity and understanding to young patients on their first visit. In addition to reproductive healthcare, confidential HIV testing and counseling are available.
We also have a comprehensive mental health program, offering depression and anxiety screening, and referral for treatment as necessary. Our patients benefit greatly from the close interaction among pediatricians, adolescent medicine specialists, nurses, social workers, and child and adolescent psychiatry professionals, ensuring a holistic approach to the adolescent's needs.
In addition, our staff has particular expertise in parent and teenage communication on such topics as underage drinking, sexual activity, use of drugs and peer pressure. Our staff is culturally sensitive, incorporating the values and beliefs of our patients when providing care.
We also provide consultation for adolescents who require hospitalization at NewYork-Presbyterian Morgan Stanley Children's Hospital.
