NIAID Director to Deliver Lecture at CUMC

Anthony Fauci, MD, director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, will deliver the Richard C. Parker Memorial Lecture on Wednesday, Oct. 14.

The lecture is part of an annual tribute to Richard Parker, a former assistant professor in the Department of Microbiology & Immunology.

Dr. Fauci has made seminal contributions to the understanding of how the AIDS virus destroys the body's defenses leading to its susceptibility to deadly infections. He continues to devote much of his research time to identifying the nature of the immunopathogenic mechanisms of HIV infection and the scope of the body's immune responses to the AIDS retrovirus.

The title of his talk is “Alpha 4 Beta 7: A Newly Recognized Receptor for HIV and Its Role in HIV Pathogenesis.”

Hammer Health Sciences Building
Room 401
4:00 pm to 5:00 pm

Hosted by the students of the Department of Microbiology & Immunology.
