The instructions below are for the CUMC campus NORTEL SL-100 Telecommunications system using Meridian multi-line phones.

How to Set up a New Mailbox:
  1. Call the Voice Messaging system (wait for an answer).
    • Internal: 305-8800
    • External: 212-305-8800
  2. Enter the # sign.
  3. Enter your 7 digit mailbox number.
  4. Enter your pre-assigned security code: 70792.
  5. Follow tutorial prompts.
    • Change pre-assigned security code
    • Record your name.
    • Record a personal greeting.
How to Modify an Existing Mailbox:
  1. Call Voice Messaging system (wait for an answer).
    • Internal: 305-8800
    • External: 212-305-8800
  2. Enter # sign.
  3. Enter your 7 digit mailbox number.
  4. Enter your security code or if the voice mail has been reset, enter the default security code 70792
  5. Enter 46 to change an existing outgoing greeting
  6. Dial 168 to change the name header (identifies user of the mailbox). Record only your first and last name.
How to Access your Messages
  1. Call Voice Messaging system (wait for an answer).
    • Internal: 305-8800
    • External: 212-305-8800
  2. Enter # sign.
  3. Enter your 7 digit mailbox number.
  4. Enter your security code and follow the prompts.


VOICE MAIL SHORTCUTS

Listen to a Message L or 5
Bypass an Outgoing Greeting
While listening to an outgoing greeting, press * and record your message

Backup Current Message B or 2
Backup to the Beginning of a Message BB or 22
Go Forward Within Existing Message G or 4
Listen to Next Message L or 5
Quick Message
     1. Dial the voice mail system number
     2. Wait for an answer
     3. Press * (asterisk)
     4. Enter the 7 digit number of the desired recipient
     5. Record your message
Time and Date Stamp
Press while listening to the message to hear the time and date it was sent
T or 8
Pause or Resume Listening *
Erase or Delete a Message E or 3
Save a Message 7
Forward a Message
Allows you to forward a message. If desired you will have to return to the voice mail system to delete the message that was forwarded.

Immediately Call
While listening to a message dial 14 to call the extension that left the message. You will automatically leave the voice mail system to make the call and must go back into voice mail to delete the message.

Reply to Sender
This allows you to leave a voice message for the sender, without ringing their extension.

Exit
You must dial 99 when ready or the messages that have been marked for deletion will not be deleted.
