License Period
Due to problems with receiving the SPSS license last year, the current license period has been extended by SPSS until July 29, 2009. Anyone who had already purchased a license via CUMC IT or purchases one before the next license period will be able to use the program through July 29, 2009.

How to License SPSS

When ordering, please remember these important details:

  • You are responsible for verifying the system requirements on any computer on which SPSS is to be installed. Refunds will not be given due to compatibility issues.
  • If your computer already has an expired version of SPSS installed and you wish to just continue running this same version, you must purchase a renewal license for the same version of SPSS that is currently on your computer.
NOTE: we can only provide the two most recent versions of SPSS, if you are running an older version you must upgrade to one of the available versions. This entails purchasing an installation kit and a new license.
  • If you would like to install SPSS on a computer that does not currently have SPSS, you must purchase a new license AND an installation kit.
  • If you would like to upgrade the version of SPSS that is currently running on your computer, you must purchase a new license AND an installation kit.

Please review all of these steps prior to submitting the online order form:

  1. Complete the SPSS Site License Agreement web form, linked at the end of these instructions.
  2. Please allow 24 hours for your request to be processed by the Service Desk staff. Pick up is only available between 9am and 5pm Monday through Friday.
  3. Stop by the Service Desk on the 2nd floor of the Health Sciences Library to sign your license and pick up any installation material.
    • Licensee signature and a valid Columbia University ID card will be required to pick up software.
    • You must agree to install SPSS on only those machines for which you have paid the license fee. This agreement is subject to auditing by SPSS Inc.
