Classroom Technology Support - Room and Equipment Policies

Columbia University Medical Center and CTS have made a commitment to upgrade the teaching technology installed in the classrooms on a continuing basis, by adding easy to use, standardized equipment. Every effort is made to ensure that faculty can easily familiarize themselves with the technology.

Faculty and students using any rooms are required to follow these policies and guidelines:

  • Use the computing and audio/visual equipment carefully and do not tamper with it any security ties or logins.
  • Immediately report any problems associated with the equipment in rooms to Classroom Technology Support by calling 5-Help, option 5.
  • Verify that any equipment is turned off when not in use (eRoom equipment should be turned off via the touch panel only).
  • Do not take any equipment off campus.
  • Return any wireless remote clickers to a Classroom Technology Support coordinator or to the Classroom Technology Support office in PH20, room 106.
  • Classes, lectures and any other events must conclude 10 minutes before the hour or half hour. This gives time for the room to be vacated and any clean up completed prior to the next scheduled event.
  • Leave classroom doors open; do not lock them.
  • Leave the classroom ready for the next class by clearing the blackboard and re-organizing the chairs. Please note that there may be another class waiting to occupy the room for a lecture. We ask that you follow your scheduled time.
  • Ensure the removal of leftovers and garbage. Your organizer must make sure these are removed before leaving the classroom. We will hold the academic department responsible for this task.
  • Contact Facilities for extra chairs if the number of chairs in the classroom is not sufficient for the class. Classroom Technology Support will make every effort to make available all the chairs that are part of the standard equipment in the classroom.
  • All Scheduling and Reservation policies must be met when requesting the room and/or equipment.
  • Contact 5-Help, option 5, for any support, clarification, or help from our staff. We are here to assist you.
