| Work hard, play hard is definitely a motto we stand by. Here are some of the many activities our residents have found to keep busy outside of work...
Happy Hours -- We have Residency Happy Hours about once a month. It is a great opportunity for everyone to let loose and have fun away from the hospital. We try to do these all around the city, but usually end up on the UWS, where most residents live.
Residency Clubs -- Several clubs have arisen from the program due to the many varied interests of the residents. These include Knitting Club, the CHONY Book Club and new this year the CHONY Chamber Ensemble.
Picnics in the park -- Summer in NYC is the BEST, and we try to take full advantage of it. (at least as best we can as residents) Groups always get together for the FREE performances in the park of the Philharmonic and Opera. We also have an annual picnic during orientation for the interns to meet the residents before they start.
Program Parties -- Every year we have a Holiday Party during the winter and an End of the Year Party when ALL the residents are off for the event (about 5 hours, during which the hospital is covered by fellows and attendings). For the End of the Year Party, each class prepares a skit to demonstrate their talents and to roast everyone else.
Class Retreats -- Each class has a weekend in the spring where everyone is off. The class plans the activity/ retreat that they want to do that will be group-building and fun. Past classes have gone to Atlantic City, Fire Island, the Adirondacks and wine tasting on Long Island.
