For 100 years, the Neurological Institute has been an internationally recognized center for the treatment of brain disorders. Its faculty members are among the most renowned experts in neurology in the world, and their research provides among the most innovative and up-to-date treatment opportunities anywhere. In addition, the Department of Neurology at the Neurological Institute is central to Columbia's world-renowned program in neuroscience. Many of its faculty are members of the Graduate Program for Neurology and Behavior, and have joint appointments in basic science departments such as Pharmacology, Pathology and Cell Biology, and Genetics and Development. The Department of Neurology at Columbia University Medical Center is one of the largest in the country. There are nearly 160 faculty members and 46 post-residency fellows representing all subspecialties of neurology.
