Echocardiography and
Vascular Ultrasound Core Laboratory and Research Services At
Columbia University Medical Center
|
Columbia University Medical Center has well-established
research echocardiography and vascular ultrasound core
laboratories. The research laboratory is staffed by a study
coordinator, 3 research sonographers and 4 dedicated
research echocardiography fellows. Staffing is maintained at
a level that ensures rapid turn around of all submitted
patient studies. There is space for secure storage of all
study-related materials including digital data storage with
daily backup to accessory hard drives and magneto-optical
discs. The core laboratory function not only includes data
analysis but onsite training of participating laboratories.
There are established protocols for quality assurance of
these participating laboratories as well as the core
laboratory. There are analog review stations with the
capability of analog to digital conversion. For digitally
captured images, the latest release Siemens review station
is available for use. This has excellent image quality and
permits auto calibration for images acquired using the DICOM
standard with most commercially available systems. Optical
disc readers for images not stored in CD/DVD format are also
available. |
